Britney changes mood with You Oughta Know

Britney Spears fans have been buzzing over her surprise on-stage cover of Alanis Morissette’s “You Oughta Know”. The big story is that she sang without a backup track. There’s another story here, and it’s about the mood she conveyed by choosing the Morisette song.

Until the Greensboro concert last night, she apparently mimed her way through her Circus tour performances, singing only “a few rare vocals on drippy ballad Everytime”.

Take a look at the wildly different Moodagent profiles of the two songs. While “Everytime” is sensual and tender, “You Ought to Know” has more anger, passion and a lot more beat.
